OGB is proud to provide teaching opportunities for doctors in the fifth and final years of specialist training (known as a senior registrar). When a “senior registrar” works closely with one of the specialists in the practice, they are able to refine the skills which are essential to providing the highest standards of care.
During your visit to Obstetrics & Gynaecology Ballarat, you may meet one of our senior registrars, or choose to have a consultation with him or her. You should feel confident that they will work within their capabilities, and will freely seek advice from one of the senior specialists if required. If you request surgical treatment as a private patient, and have met our senior registrar, you may choose to have him or her perform your surgery with direct assistance from a senior specialist, or have the senior specialist perform the entire procedure.
When being cared for as a public patient at one of our regional hospitals, the senior registrar will provide your treatment with support provided from a specialist as required. By offering this model of care we are able to provide the highest quality of care whilst training the next generation of specialists.
